Bowen Island

Anne and I decided to get away this weekend to Bowen Island – only a 20 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. Bowen Island is gorgeous – from the moment the ferry arrives in the quaint and rustic marina, you know that you have left busy city life and entered into a much more peaceful island lifestyle. It’s a shame more people don’t hop on the ferry more regularly because the trip itself is so gorgeous and you can easily come here on a day trip or an overnighter.

This was the first time both Anne and our daughter Rianne had come to Bowen Island and it was also Rianne’s first Ferry Ride ever. Plus, I hadn’t been here for years so it really felt like it was a novel adventure for all three of us. Little Rianne loved the ferry ride, especially the wind and waves from the outer deck. This is good preparation for our upcoming trip to the Philippines this May. We hope she enjoys the plane ride as much as the ferry trip!

We’ll be staying here for two nights – the first night at Rivendell Retreat and the second night at the Chocolate Suite at Artisan Square. It’s been a cloudy and rainy day today so hopefully the sun and blue skies come out for the rest of our trip! Our plan is to have a relaxing first night checking in at our cabin, going for a nice meal together, and then exploring the island on our final two days, before heading back to the city. We’ll be updating our blog regularly during our trip.

Make sure you check back in on our blog to see the rest of our adventures on Bowen Island!
