Every Easter, we love having a nicely family meal together in our neighbourhood. Having just moved to The Heights a few months ago, we have been trying to check off the multitude of restaurants from our must-try list. We have covered about 10-12 restaurants in The Heights on our blog so far. Since it was Easter we had to try out something extra special…plus, we wanted to find somewhere that is family-friendly and kid-welcoming! This weekend we had the opportunity to try out Cotto Pizzeria on Hastings St!
At first we weren’t sure how family-friendly it would be since we haven’t been to Cotto before – it’s only been open for 18 months. However, right when we were seated, the friendly waitress brought out a colouring book, crayons, and kid’s menu for our daughter. We knew we had made the right choice! Rianne loved just sitting and colouring while waiting for our food to arrive. Cotto is really on the ball when it comes to social media and customer engagement. Right after my Tweet and Check-In, I got an immediate response asking if they could use the picture I shared on Instagram. With that much attention to their social media engagement, they’ve definitely won over this foodie’s heart!
On to the best part…the actual food! Anne had the Seafood Vongole (she loves trying this dish at different restaurants around the city). This Vongole definitely ranked near the top of her list. I opted for the Pizza Carbonara and loved it as well – thin crusted, lots of delicious topping, and tons of gooey cheese…just the way I like it! The atmosphere was beautiful and they have an open-concept kitchen as well as a private parking lot just for customers. Before we left, Gaven, the co-owner gave me a tour of the upstairs area which can be booked for private functions. I loved the place so much that we are going to be holding an upcoming YVR Foodies at Cotto – stay tuned for details!
