Unplugging from Technology

I almost missed this week’s Blog Challenge about Unplugging because I was unplugged! 🙂

The Daddy Blogger family is on a family road trip to the Okanagan this Labour Day long weekend stopping in Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Armstrong, Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, and Osoyoos before returning to Vancouver on Tuesday morning. One of the reasons for going on family trips is to unplug from technology, get away from the day-to-day routine, create life-long family memories, and explore more of our beautiful province.

In Vancouver, I have my iPhone with me 24/7 (even when I sleep it’s only a few feet away waiting to be picked up). In addition, I have my MacBook constantly around even when my daughter is playing or wants to play with me. Of course, I should put down my phone and laptop and give her my undivided attention but I have to admit sometimes I chose social media over her…guilty as charged. It’s something I admit to and intend to change. Rianne first….everything else comes second. Sorry, Facbook. Sorry, Twitter. Sorry, Blog.

So, here we are in beautiful Kamloops, and here I am on my laptop again! Luckily, this time my wife and daughter are fast asleep so I can complete my blog post and then catch some sleep before a busy sightseeing day at the BC Wildlife Zoo tomorrow. The good news is that I’ll be unplugged at the zoo and for most of the next few days of our trip sightseeing during the day (I will probably be on my laptop in the evenings at the hotels but at least Anne and Rianne have me all to themselves during the day)!
