How to be a Parent

Today, I had the opportunity to take little Rianne to a parenting education class. It’s a weekly group that meets on Wednesdays from 1-2:30 pm near Joyce Skytrain Station. The topic today was on “baby temperaments.” I learned a lot about our daughter today through the facilitator and the other parents. There were big poster papers with a temperament spectrum and we wrote our babies name on where we felt they were on the continuum.

When you become a parent, there is no “How to be a Dad” book they give you at the maternity ward. A lot of what you learn is from trial and error. Some info is gathered from reading books and researching online. However, it is even better to learn from experts who have walked the journey of raising kids before us newbies. I highly recommend attending one of the Parent Education Groups throughout the city!
