Manulife #CentsAbility Mid-Month Check-In

It’s been a fun journey this month tracking my spending and saving money where-ever and when-ever I can. At the beginning of October, I committed to track my spending this month and do a mid-month and end-of-month check in! Here’s more about the #CentsAbility Challenge!

For my Manulife mid-month check-in, I’ll list out the different ways I saved money during my trip to Toronto for the Blissdom Conference. When going on a business trip or a family vacation, the costs can definitely add up especially with airfare, hotel stays, meals, sightseeing, souvenirs, and more!

Here are the top 3 things I did while in Toronto and what I would suggest to save money traveling:

1) Stay in a Hostel

Youth Hostel
2) Use Public Transport

3) Eat at Food Courts

Yes, staying in a hostel may not seem the most luxurious of options, but if you know you are not going to be spending much time in the hotel and instead exploring a city, reinvest your budget for a hotel into sightseeing costs. When in Toronto, I paid only $30 for the hotel and was able to do a lot more exploring and even stay in Toronto a few days after the conference!

Plus, they have free Wifi so I was able to Skype Call my wife and kids back in Vancouver:

In my final update of the Manulife #Centsability Challenge, I will be sharing some tips about how I save money on my business so stay tuned for some more money-saving tips!!
